Module 7 Discussion Board

Q This is your group and you should direct your discussions to each other here. I encourage you to reference not only the lectures and the textbook articles, but reference outside materials, media, and most importantly, your own experiences that help you and your group engage the concepts we are covering in the module in a practical, applied way. Please listen to lectures 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3 and begin reading Part 6 in your textbook before completing Part A of this discussion. Part A: Due no later than 11:59pm (5 points) Post a 200+ word response to ONE of the following questions. Put “Part A” and the question number that you are responding to in the first line of your post. For example: “Part A- Q-1” 1. From p. 291 of the textbook: This article (Gallagher & Wood) discusses Stu Weber’s description of “authentic masculinity” as characterized by four pillars: king, warrior, mentor, and friend. Respond to this description with your own ideas about masculinity. Do these words describe an authentic or ideal masculinity to you? How does this conceptualization support or refute elements of the men’s movement discussed in lecture 7.1? 2. Choose one of the groups from the acronym GLBTQI from lecture 7.3 and explain how a rhetorical social movement (explained in lecture 7.1) might benefit them. In other words, explain why members of these communities might choose to engage in attempting to change society’s responses to their identities. Please read your group members’ Part A posts before completing Part B of this discussion. Part B: Due no later than 11:59pm (5 points) Post a 150+ word response to one of your group members’ Part A posts. Your response should extend the information offered in the original post by including your own observations, opinions and experiences and should reflect the material discussed in the assigned reading and lectures. Parting Thoughts: Due no later than 11:59pm (5 points). Post in week 7 Db as a new thread. Under NO circumstances should your parting thoughts be posted early (prior to the beginning of Module 7). Parting thoughts posted early will NOT be graded. Offer a 75-150 “good-bye” post to your group in C316. You may choose to re-visit a topic that was of particular interest to you and formulate a new or extended idea about that topic. You may choose to offer your final parting thoughts to an idea or ideas that your co-small group members brought to the discussion. You may offer examples of about how you plan to use the information that you learned in this course in your future work, relationships, education. Etc… Try to make your post as specific and on point as possible. Part A- Q 2

Recently GLBTQI movement have come to the forefront and everybody is fighting for their rights. It is high time that people should start thinking differently so that the society can become a better place to live in. Most of the problems are faced by those people who are different or those who love to act beyond the expectations of the people of the society. The word queer was used to mark anything weird all these years but it cannot be used as a passing comment now just so casually.
